Step 2.0: Diagnosing ADHD Introduction—Overview (5 min)

5:07 minutes

Even if diagnosis is already in place, do you:

  • Understand (or remember) how it was made?

  • Have faith in the evaluating professional’s expertise or conclusion? (Lingering doubt can sabotage progress.)

  • Have clarity on how specific symptoms might be manifesting in your life?

  • Have data you can use to target treatment goals and track progress?

  • Understand how to begin distinguishing ADHD from “look a-likes” such as anxiety, depression, etc.?

If thinking about pursuing a diagnosis, do you:

  • Harbor skepticism about ADHD being a “diagnosis”?

  • Realize that not all mental-health professionals are qualified to evaluate for or treat ADHD?

  • Know enough to be confidently (but diplomatically) pro-active in the evaluation process?

  • Understand why recruiting a partner or friend to help tackle this process might be a smart move?

If you answered "no" to any question, this step is definitely for you. In fact, it's for everyone!
